Leslie Rubin, PhD
Licensed clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).
Available in-person in Chicago or via telehealth in Illinois, New York, and PSYPACT states.
My Practice
I frequently work with adults with anxiety disorders, OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors like skin picking and hair pulling, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
I also support individuals with the psychological impact of chronic illnesses including autoimmune conditions and hypermobility spectrum disorders including hEDS. Common concerns include anxiety about symptoms and flares, navigating healthcare systems, and the overlap between autonomic symptoms (heart rate, dizziness, breathing changes) and anxiety.
Treatment Approach
I provide process-informed cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), an approach built around understanding why symptoms persist for a particular person, then targeting those drivers directly. Treatment is organized around what's maintaining the problem: avoidance, attentional patterns, emotional regulation, or something else specific to you. Evidence-based methods include Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and the Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment model (ComB) for body-focused repetitive behaviors. The therapeutic relationship is central, and treatment is always individualized.
Get Started
Contact me or schedule a brief phone consultation. We'll talk through what's been going on, any previous treatment, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. From there, I can give you a general sense of my approach and what treatment might look like, with a fuller picture coming once we've had a chance to meet.
